Why Salon Amar

Salon Amar has been on the Main Line for over fifteen years, and the business runs on returning guests — some of them ten years with the same stylist. That changes the job. You're not restarting your book every season or fighting for walk-ins. You're growing something.

We also do work most salons don't touch. Wigs, toppers, extensions, hair replacement systems, scalp micropigmentation. A lot of our guests come to us during medical hair loss, and they arrive nervous. The stylists listen first, recommend second, and never oversell. If that's you, this is a rare place to work.

  • Tape-in extensions last 6–8 weeks before they need to be moved up. The hair itself can typically be reused 2–3 times with proper care. How long your individual extensions last depends on your hair's natural growth rate and how well you maintain them at home.

  • Properly installed and maintained extensions should not damage your hair. The risk comes from improper installation, extensions that are too heavy for your hair, or poor removal technique. At Salon Amar we assess your hair's condition first and always use appropriate installation methods for your hair type.

  • Tape-ins use pre-taped wefts that sandwich your hair near the root — fast to install, lightweight, and very natural. Hand-tied wefts are sewn in with no adhesive and lay completely flat — ideal for fine hair where bulk at the root would be visible. We'll recommend which is right for your hair at your consultation.

  • Yes — but the method matters significantly. Fine hair needs a lightweight method like hand-tied wefts or tape-ins with fewer pieces. We assess your hair's density and health before recommending any extension work. Some hair may need a strengthening plan before extensions are a safe option.
